May 28 Update

We're looking forward to our 3rd grade year end picnic on Tuesday, June 1, at Helder Park.  If you are joining us for lunch, we should be ready to eat by noon.  We had a fine time today during Field Day.  Pictures of today's festivities and recent math activities can be found below.

There's still time to complete the parent survey.  Use this link for the anonymous online version:

Mr. Goers' May 7 Update

The kids have already recieved more class compliments than last year's class, earning a pizza party we'll have the last full day of school.  Don't forget to send in plant parts for our salad party next Tuesday.  I've attached the form as a reminder.  I've also attached the details on the third grade picnic celebration scheduled for June 1.  A hard copy of that form will be coming home Monday.

I'm looking for feedback in order to improve as an educator and I value your input.  There is a parent survey attached that can be printed off and sent in, completed as a word document and emailed, or completed online anonymously by using this link: http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dEE5RzdjWVkwNTNLTXJiLXZ1MUVTTUE6MQ

Thanks for checking in, and have a great weekend,

Don't forget to vote

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. this Tuesday for the annual school

election. Zeeland Public Schools has placed a $20.275 million bond proposal

on the ballot. The package does not require an increase in the tax rate. It

is designed to handle continued growth; create a clear path for students

from kindergarten through twelfth grades; update learning technology; and

address safety and security issues.

Also on the ballot will be a request to renew the 18-mill non-homestead tax

for one year. This levy generates more than $6 million in operating funds

for the district. And, two Board of Education incumbents, Tom Den Herder

and David Lutz, are running unopposed for two, four-year terms.

April 30 Update

We had a fine time at the zoo on Tuesday.  Thanks go out to all the volunteers who helped lead groups through the scavenger hunts.  We worked hard at the Zeeland Wetlands and on our Quincy property planting trees, picking up trash, and eradicating invasive species today.  Third graders were able to raise $1500 through a Kohl's grant for our efforts.  Check out pictures of both events below.

Look for more information about our year end celebration to come home next week.  We'll be asking for food donations and looking for volunteers to help make the June 1 picnic happen.

Have a great weekend,

April 23 Update

I've attached pictures of grandparents day, and disability awareness below.  Thanks to the volunteers that helped make those events possible.  Thanks also for your help in completing the animal projects.  Some of them are really outstanding.  I'll see several of you next Tuesday for our trip to the zoo!  If you're following or riding the bus, be here by 8:50.  If you're meeting us there, we'll meet you by the entrance at 9:45.

Have a great weekend,

Pete Goers   pgoers@zps.org
